Reporting Roma Issues in New Member States of the European Union
The films presented here were made as part of a training and production project for a group of twenty Roma and majority-community journalists in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. The 2011-2 project, which received support from the OSF Media Program, the Erste Foundation, the Embassy of the United States in the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in the Czech Republic, is implemented in close cooperation with five partner organizations, the Center for Independent Journalism in Budapest, Romea.cz in Prague, the Center for Independent Journalism in Bucharest, the Media Development Center in Sofia, and MEMO 98 in Bratislava.
The training and production components were implemented in collaboration with Dean CK Cox , a Sweden-based photojournalist and multimedia specialist, who trained the participants and oversaw their work in the field and back in the newsroom.

Since its launch in September 2011, C Street Radio has emerged one of the largest online radio stations in Hungary. Established by four young Roma men, C Street Radio gathered more than 116000 clicks in a week last March and more and more often goes beyond one hundred thousand. C Street seems to replace Radio C, a radio station in Budapest which stopped broadcasting in the summer of 2011. Many consider C Street as the new Roma radio station. It plays Soul, Funky, R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop music and is becoming a center for Gypsy music in the heart of Budapest, and at the same time it also airs reports on political, health, employment and housing topics.
